World Cup #2 - Cairo, Egypt - Womens Semifinals

There were 51 competitors in women's semifinals on Thursday, 18 March, divided into two groups and looking for a place in the final on Saturday. A place in the top 18 of each group was enough to guarantee the qualification.

Semifinal A

Seki was the only one of those athletes who didn't manage to qualify for the final. Kolegova was the one who scored less points (568, with only 6 wins and 24th overall in the group) and still secured a spot in the final with good performances in swimming and combined event.

From the 10 best times, Elmedany was the only one who missed the final. The top 4 swimmers were also in the top 10 fencers and started the combined event in a good position.

In the combined event, some just manage to qualify, while others have different fates, some "choke" and fail to qualify while others try a comeback, sometimes succesfull or not. Barakova was the 9th in the event and still it was not enough to qualify, while Cesarini secured the last spot in the group with the tenth performance in combined event. Seki had the worst time in the group (18:12.92) and missed the final, Struchtukova (20th in CE) and Gyenesei (18th in CE) also didn't perform well but managed to finish in 4th and 5th places in the group. Kolegova and Budde could rely on her performances to secure a spot in the final.

The only surprise between those who failed to qualify was Rublevska, who was disqualified in the combined event for using other athlete's pistol.
